On April 24th, 2024,the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) was signed in Strasbourg, marking a significant step towards greener, more sustainable buildings in Europe. The ceremony, led by European Parliament President Roberta Metsola and Belgian Secretary of State Mathieu Michel, celebrated the culmination of collaborative efforts.

Key figures like Tomás Baynes and Heike Leberle played crucial roles in driving the directive forward, supported by dedicated MEPs and their staff. The EPBD, effective from 2026, sets standards to boost energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions in buildings.
